Each Youngstown State track with clinical hours has its own guide: the online MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner and in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, the post-master's certificates for both, Nursing Education, the campus DNP in Nurse Anesthesia, RN to BSN and the entry-level BSN. Every guide covers the courses, the practicum sequence and the preceptor each stage calls for.

Two NP tracks, the same five-practicum rhythm
Family practice and adult-gerontology acute care are YSU's only nurse practitioner specialties. Both run online in 7-week terms and end in five 2-credit practicums taken one at a time: NURS 7061 to NURS 7065 in primary care for FNP students, NURS 7071 to NURS 7075 in acute care for AGACNP students. The certificates use the same practicums, fewer of the core courses.

Questions YSU students ask
Which YSU programs need a preceptor?
The online MSN FNP and AGACNP and their post-master's certificates, the Nursing Education practicums, and the RN to BSN capstone practicum. BSN, ADN and DNP Nurse Anesthesia students train in clinical placements arranged through YSU and its partners.
Does YSU offer a PMHNP or primary care adult-gerontology track?
No. YSU's graduate handbook lists Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education and the DNP in Nurse Anesthesia as its graduate programs.
Are YSU's NP programs fully online?
Yes. The catalog describes the FNP as delivered in a fully online format, with practicums completed near where you live. You still need a lockdown browser with a camera and a Sentinel U account, which YSU requires for NP students.
How long do YSU's NP programs take?
YSU's online pages say as few as 22 months for the MSN tracks, and one timeline article says 20. Starts are offered in two fall and two spring 7-week terms.
